About
I'm Matthew Fox. I've spent twenty-five years building and rebuilding software that businesses depend on — in healthcare, payments, insurance, government, and enterprise SaaS. Fox CTO Advisory is my independent practice.
Most of my work has followed one shape: a company has a platform that still works but has stopped keeping up, and needs someone who can figure out what to keep, what to replace, and how to sequence it so nothing breaks along the way. I did that as Director of Software Development at Information Requirements Clearinghouse, taking a dBase-era product to C#/.NET. I did it as Interim IT Director for the Missouri Office of the Treasury. And I did it most recently at DSN, where after Vertica Capital Partners acquired the company, I worked with the firm's executive team through the rebuild of a legacy desktop product into a cloud-native SaaS platform — serving as the senior technical voice through long stretches when there was no CTO in the seat.
That pattern runs through the rest of my career as well: regulated healthcare systems at CareSource, enterprise training platforms at SANS, Microsoft and Volkswagen LMS integrations at Stranix, public-sector systems for the State of Missouri, and long-running consulting work where the job is to make complicated operational systems understandable, supportable, and useful again. I still write code, including recent AI-assisted workflow work such as Intelligent Processor, but the through line is employment-tested judgment across real organizations, budgets, users, and constraints.
I work with a small number of clients at a time, through Fox CTO Advisory, on a corp-to-corp basis. Based in Tulsa, Oklahoma; I work remotely across US time zones and travel when the work needs it.
